ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The Annual General Meeting was held on Wednesday 15th February and the following committee for 2017 was elected:
President: Margaret Oldham
Vice President: Mikko Helle
Secretary: Merilyn Igoe
Treasurer: Jeff Shearman
Committee: Martin Hole, Bill Knowles, Leanne Nelson, Wayne Rose, and Jill Sloan
Members are reminded that annual fees are due by the end of February. Senior fees are now $80, and must be paid at the Bowling Club. Match fees have also been increased to $5 as from 20 February.
We hosted the first North East Upper JDS of the year on Sunday 19th February with record entries. This was partly due to the introduction of open men’s and ladies events, which attracted some 25 players, which included five of our senior members – Jodie Aboitiz, Rob Kowalski, Joe Saltimacchia, Frank Schultheiss, and Dwayne Smith. Four of our juniors reached the final rounds for the first time – Paco Schultheiss, Bodhi Smith, Noah Helle, and Annie Milne. Congratulations to them all. Results of the finals can be found in the tournament section, and full details in the Tennis Australia Tournaments website. The next event is at Lismore on 5th March.
You will notice we have added a new section to this website. We are seeking to raise funds towards the cost of redevelopment of the clubhouse. Details can be found in this new section, including a copy of the plan, and you may make a tax free donation there via the Australian Sports Foundation. So far we have raised over $15,000 in fundraising activities and have over $60,000 in reserve towards a total cost of approximately $200,000. We have also recently received a grant of $17,000 from the NSW Community Building Partnerships program and a commitment of $20,000 from the Ballina Shire Council. You may view an updated promotional club video on YouTube: btc holden submission 2017.

Welcome to the Ballina Tennis Club website, which has been designed for both members and non-members.
If you are a member, we shall keep you informed of events, activities , and happenings. If not we hope this website might encourage you to join us on our courts, if not as a member, at least to play tennis either privately or by joining some of the club’s programs as a guest. Members do have a number of advantages, including discounted rates for play and coaching, and insurance through Tennis NSW. Learners, for whom coaching is available, and visitors to Ballina are equally welcome, whether as members or otherwise.
We have over 300 members of all ages and abilities, and there are plenty of opportunities for everyone to play on one of our eleven synthetic grass courts throughout the week from early morning to 9.30 pm. If our clubhouse is unattended, a key to the courts can be obtained from the Cherry Street Bowling Club, which handles all public bookings and is our major sponsor.
We should like to acknowledge here the assistance provided by Paradise FM radio, the Northern Star, and the Ballina Advocate – and also Conarts, designer of this website, whom we would highly recommend to any local tennis or other sports club.
Our club is located on the corner of Cherry and Burnet Streets, immediately south of the Bowling Club. If you need more information, go to the contact us section of this website. You can also find out more by viewing our promotional video on YouTube: BTC Holden Submission 2017
